The Clouds 365 Project
Multimedia Artist Kelly DeLay One-Up’s Us on Creativity… and Class
Photographers take note, there are some pretty creative people out there, and Kelly DeLay has just taught us all a lesson. As a photographer, you need to go to his site, http://clouds365.com, and you’ll know where I’m coming from.
What a great idea! As a web application guy as well as a photographer, I’m very impressed with the website from two vantage points; as a visual experience from a web application point of view, and from a photographic train of thought.
I did email Kelly before writing this article, just to ask him permission if I can write about it (its a professional courtesy), but I just couldn’t wait for a response. I wanted to write this article while still in the impressed stage. Though the photography is stunning and should stand out on its own right, Kelly has taken the concept a heck of a lot further, and that is what impresses me most of all. He gets it.
Kelly’s theme of http://clouds365.com is on his own artistic and personal message regarding: Art, Learning, Determination, Process, Pattern & Obsession. I urge you to visit his About page so you can read for yourself what Kelly is trying to communicate to us.
Lastly, Kelly left out one element of his humble message. He should have added the word Class, because that his what he’s shown to us here. Upon spending some time admiring his video and photographic presentations of his project, I came across one little paragraph toward the bottom of his About page, and now, I’m really impressed, and personally touched:
“Proceeds of the Clouds 365 Project will benefit Smile Train, a charity devoted to repairing cleft lips and palettes in children, and Donors Choose, which pairs donors with classrooms in need. I use my donations to support art and music education in kindergarten classrooms. We use PayPal if you wish to donate to the Clouds 365 Project.”
