About Young Architects Forum
Young Architects Forum (YAF) Atlanta, initially assembled by Ben Brewer, Jr., FAIA (previous AIA President), is a component of both the AIA Atlanta Chapter, and the YAF National. The YAF National was organized to address issues of particular importance to recently licensed architects (within 10 years or less after licensure). Since 1989, YAF has been promoting the development of national and regional programs that further nurture young architects and encouraging the continuous growth of YAF groups within local chapters. Upon AIA Atlanta’s reinvention in 1998 combined with the hard work and dedication of many young architects and architectural interns and with the help of the then AIA Georgia President William Carpenter, FAIA, YAF developed a series of programs and events that has fueled a steady growth pattern and raised the profile of both the YAF and the AIA within the Atlanta design community. The YAF Atlanta, chosen as the national YAF Component of the Year for 2003, is an organization that has now over 150 active members and continues to expand the programming for its members.
